This privacy statement applies specifically to the Website and member electronic communications facilities of Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild.
The facilities contain public areas that may be viewed from any Internet connected PC. Other areas are restricted to access by members of Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild. It is important to the Student Guild that it's members and customers retain their privacy when they take advantage of all that the site has to offer.
Your privacy is important to us. Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild is committed to protecting your personal information by complying with the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) as set out in the Federal Privacy Act.
The Student Guild collects personal information from you to enable us to communicate with you by e-mail or by text message, to improve our website and to personalise our service to you. For example we may provide you with newsletters, activity information, pointers, advice, recommendations or advertisements for goods or services that we think will interest you, according to the preferences you have determined. We will also use the information for our own internal membership administration and analysis.
While you are not obligated to provide us with the information requested, not supplying the information may affect the level of service and benefits available to you.
The personal information you give us in registering your membership of the Student Guild will be protected by us from misuse, loss, unauthorized access or modification.
We may disclose information where you would reasonably expect us to do so or where the disclosure is for an activity related to the purpose for which your information was originally collected.
We will not however disclose, sell, rent or otherwise exchange any information personal to you to any third party without your prior express approval. The only exceptions to this shall be in order to comply with any legal or law enforcement obligations, to enforce the terms and conditions of use of our website, to protect and defend the rights and interests or property of the Student Guild and/or the University, or in exceptional circumstances to prevent a threat to life or health.
The Student Guild is committed to ensuring that your personal information held about you is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If any of the information you have given us changes at any time, you can directly change this record yourself by clicking the 'my profile' button in the top right box on your page, after you are logged in. You can set your own preferences for information receipt and can change these at any time. Thus for example, should you choose not to opt-in for news of University Games, no specific communications on that subject will be sent to you.
The Student Guild will not store in or transfer your personal data to countries outside Australia.
By disclosing information about you to us on our website or in any other way, you consent to the use of that information in the manner set out in this statement.
